RISHI SUNAK: RESULTS OF THE G20 SUMMIT ARE SUBSTANTIVE AND ACTIONABLE

Results of the G20 Summit. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the G20 Summit resulted in substantive and action-oriented agreements. One of the British emphasis was for efforts to stop the Russian attack on Ukraine to be successful. This was conveyed by Sunak in a press conference at the Hilton Hotel, Nusa Dua, Bali on Wednesday (16/11/2022). He held a press conference after participating in various events on the second day of the G20 Summit. Sunak explained that many people came to the G20 summit with skepticism about what would happen. “The communiqué released today is substantive, comprehensive, action-oriented,” said Sunak on Wednesday (16/11/2022). According to him, during the G20 summit the leaders showed a strong will to condemn Russia’s attack on Ukraine, while expressing solidarity for Ukraine. Hence, the resolution to end the war grew stronger. The G20 countries also want to ensure joint steps in fighting inflation. According to him, all countries must work together to ensure the smooth supply of food, as well as fertilizer as the key to food security.
“Ensuring that Russia doesn’t stop that from happening [the smooth supply of food], because those who are suffering, two-thirds of wheat coming from Ukraine, are developing countries. It is important for us to maintain that supply,” said Sunak. He also said that the G20 countries would cooperate in fighting inflation. The leaders also stated that they would switch to renewable energy in the future. “I think the president [Joko Widodo] and his staff deserve tremendous credit for the leadership they have shown over the year, especially during the last few days [of the G20 Summit],” said Sunak.
